My Week of Food

 

We are on week 2 of our New Eating Lifestyle. So far things have been good.

A few mishaps, like for instance going to the movies on a gift card, and getting popcorn and a candy {our usual}. Other than that we are doing very well.

Here are is the tentative items we would be eating at some point this week:

Breakfast foods:

Peanut Butter, Strawberry & Banana Quesadillas, Blueberry Pancakes,

Nutty Strawberry Banana Breakfast Quinoa,

Pineapple Citrus Muffins

 

Lunch:

Chicken Salad, Fruit Salad w/yogurt, PBJ, Salad w/homemade vinaigrette

 

Dinner:

Stir Fry Vegetables with Brown Rice,

Corn and Black Bean Salsa with Chicken, Turkey & Sun Dried Tomato Burgers, Veggie, Lentil & Chicken Sausage Soup, Turkey meatballs with Gluten Free noodles and fresh tomato sauce.

 

Possible snacks: Cinnamon Nut Mix, Hummus & Corn Chips, Apples & Nut Butter, Veggies and dip, Apple Raisin Nut Cookies.

  1. Wow! All of that sounds amazing! What are we having?! We just came back from a 4-day fun excursion up to the mountains, so...salad. Now we have to eat salad all week. LOL

  2. The turkey and sun dried tomato burgers sounds pretty good. I've been dying for a burger lately. Not sure why!

  4. Sounds yummy! It is so hard to break traditions with food. Movie nights are our weakness also! We are doing a slow cooker brisket (new recipe) and then some staples like meatloaf and Spaghetti Squash Pizza Pie.

  6. How long have you been doing the new eating plan? Are you enjoying it and noticing a difference? I'm trying super hard to get back to better eating. I made cookies this weekend that turned out WAY different than I had planned, but they turned out to be like really good healthy breakfast cookies. The recipe was basically mashed bananas, oatmeal, vanilla, almond milk (I used soy) and then I added some chopped walnuts. It didn't call for any flour or sugar but I ended up adding a little. And I think they'd be good with dark chocolate chips and peanut butter too!

  7. We started January 2nd. Yes I noticed a huge difference! When I eat anything that has sugar{ not natural or not raw} I get severe headaches. The boys are not grouchy or restless. My husband is down about 15 pounds. Men generally get the weight off faster any way. We are transitioning to a lot of natural ingredients. Higher meat content more 90/10 for red, lots of turkey and chicken. I've been making my own granola bars too. The boys are having a harder time with sweets not being as sweet, but if they really want it, they will eat it. I've also changed out our white flour, for wheat, rye, almond and even oat flour. It's been different but good. We feel better!

    1. So, raw sugar or stevia seems to be okay? I am trying to minimize sugar, but it is tough. I wonder if it is an allergy you have. So is this a particular diet or just focusing more on whole foods. Hope you don't mind my questions, but I am always thinking about what I eat and what direction to go in. Are you trying to avoid gluten too? Thanks for sharing what is working for you!

  8. Focusing more on whole foods. Which is why it's a plan not a diet. I'm generally trying to remove all sugar. I've been using Raw Honey, Raw Maple Syrup, unsweetened applesauce. If I *have* to use sugar it is raw sugar. Yes, we're trying to cut back on gluten. If I can buy gluten free I will. My breads are whole wheat, and generally they are more a flat bread.
